The Sustainable Food Alliance supports research that advances understanding of how food and farming systems can deliver better outcomes for people, nature and the climate. Our funding has helped underpin work that provides robust evidence for the transition to more sustainable agriculture, informing farmers, policymakers, businesses and civil society.

Our support spans research areas that include the environmental and health impacts of farming systems, the economics of sustainable food production, True Cost Accounting, whole-farm sustainability assessment, regenerative and agroecological farming, grazing livestock, local and resilient supply chains, public procurement, and the role of farming in restoring biodiversity, improving soil health, protecting water quality and mitigating climate change.

By bringing together scientific evidence with practical farming experience, this research helps build the case for policies and markets that recognise the full value of sustainable farming and support the transition to resilient, healthy food systems.
