Beacon Farms

The Sustainable Food Alliance is proud to be supporting the Beacon Farms Network – an ambitious initiative bringing together sustainable and regenerative farms that serve as centres for learning, inspiration and community engagement. Built on the principle that seeing is believing, the network helps reconnect people with the story behind their food by providing first-hand experiences of farming that demonstrate how healthy food can be produced in harmony with nature.

Beacon Farms are selected for their commitment to biologically based farming, their willingness to share their knowledge and experience, and their ability to host visitors through farm walks, educational events and school visits. Working in partnership with The Harmony Project, the Sustainable Food Trust has also developed curriculum-linked educational resources that enable participating farms to inspire young people and strengthen connections between food, farming, nature and health. Since its launch, the network has grown rapidly, with farms across the UK and Ireland welcoming school groups, community organisations, policymakers and members of the public onto their farms.

The Sustainable Food Alliance is delighted to continue supporting this growing movement as it enters its next phase of development. Building on the success of the UK network, the Beacon Farms model is now being expanded internationally, beginning with the United States, where it will help foster stronger connections between farmers and communities while showcasing practical examples of regenerative and sustainable agriculture. Through this work, we hope to contribute to a global network of demonstration farms that inspire learning, collaboration and positive change across food and farming systems.
